LIGAMENT WEAKNESS AND CHRONIC LIGAMENT INJURIES Acidosis

Your ligaments should develop with time, the strength to do what you do with them.

“Our ligaments are made of the same material that a horse’s ligaments are made of Collagen and they can be incredible strong”. Dr Keith

The more you exercise, do training  for your particular sport, receive the bumps of contact sport, the more your ligaments will strengthen to help you cope with this .So most ligament injuries are the result of your ligaments not developing the strength they require to perform the tasks you ask of them. There is a reason for this. The biggest cause is malabsorption followed by acidosis. Which means your ligaments aren’t receiving the nutrition they require in order to get stronger and stronger or the acid levels in your body are weakening your ligaments making them vulnerable to injury.

So if you want to have ligament that are strong enough to cope with rough and tumble of your sport there are two questions you should ask if you’re getting recurrent ligament injuries or if you just want to make sure your ligaments develop the strength needed to keep you injury free. (You do need other strategies in place to stay injury free as an athlete see blog Staying Injury Free as an athlete).

The first question is. What can I do to improve my absorption?(see previous blog)

The second question is: What can I do to bring my body back from being acidic?

In this blog we’ll talk about weak ligaments caused by acidosis.

Q2. Acidosis in the body is very common it’s normally the result of excessive consumption of sugar, coffee and alcohol. Stress in one’s life can also lead to acidosis. Training can build up acid levels as well.

On overly acidic environment in the gut leads to more harmful gut bacteria which can cause inflammation. Overly acidic synovial fluid can also lead to inflammation and pain. It is this inflammation that in turn lead to the breakdown of ligaments. Making the ligament vulnerable to injury if it’s put under physical stress. It also or effect the ligaments  ability to heal and strengthen.

If you have persistent joint pain or morning joint pain. If training increases joint soreness and your muscle soreness seems to linger longer than it used to. If your joints or your body generally is stiff you most likely have acidosis.

“ Accept nothing less than feeling great and being injury free.”

Correcting Acidosis:

  1. Diet: Get off sugar, coffee and alcohol. Increase fresh fruit and vegies. Have yourself allergy tested for gluten and dairy sensitivity.
  2. Take supplements that assist the body to alkalize.I use an alkalizing form of Magnesium and Calcium.( known as Coral Calcium), Bicarb of soda, 7.2’s Hydro FX, Wise Nutrients Hydrogen Regen which facilitates the production of molecular hydrogen.
